Fordite Bicycle Charm Necklace-Greens
A tiny triangle of green-ringed Fordite provides the road for this hand-stamped bicycle charm set in sterling silver with stamped star and bead accents.
Fordite (or Detroit Agate) is not a stone at all. It is a brilliant way to upcycle the decades of paint drips collected at auto factories. Lapidary artists collect chunks of baked paint then they cut it with lapidary equipment just like a stone.
This piece of Fordite was hand-shaped by me in order to get a tiny triangle shape with maximum color patterns exposed and highlighting the green and yellow rings. Set in sterling, the pendant measures approx. 12mm x 22mm and comes with an 18” sterling silver chain.
